Stamped concrete is a unique way to enhance the appearance and texture of your concrete. The process of stamping your concrete uses a specialty stencil that is layered onto the concrete before it has completed dried, allowing it to dry with a shape or pattern on it matching that of the stencil. When completed, your concrete can then appear as if it were tiles, stones, or bricks, rather than the traditional flat layer of concrete. Stamped concrete is often used to decorate interior flooring, exterior walkways, sidewalks, and even patios, decks, or porches.
What Is Stamped Concrete?
Stamped concrete is a technique used to stencil in a pattern or design into your concrete in order to give it more texture and dimension. Stamping your concrete is a great way to add some personal flair to your otherwise traditional surface. Stamping your concrete doesn’t interfere with the integrity of the concrete but is a great way to get that textured aesthetic that you’ve always wanted and with the same durability that standard concrete provides.
There are various designs available when it comes to stamping your concrete. Some of the most popular designs include those resembling bricks or concrete pavers, as well as shaped tiles. We can also arrange for the designs to appear as if your concrete is cross-hatched, perfectly aligned, or containing a selection of shapes to create a larger pattern. We provide a catalogue of some of our previous work so that you can get some inspiration for stamped concrete ideas and how you would like to integrate stamping into your next concrete project. If you have an idea for how you’d like your concrete to be stamped, be sure to let us know so we can try to accommodate your preferences into the final project!
Repairing Stamped Concrete
Repairing stamped concrete is much like repairing any other surface of concrete. The problem can usually be resolved using crack fillers to repair any cracks along the intersections of the stamping designs. For extensive damages that need repairing, we offer more innovative repair solutions that require cutting out part of the concrete to later replace it with new concrete that is then stamped and blended in with the rest of the remaining concrete. Just because your concrete is stamped doesn’t mean it’s beyond repair when damaged – we have the repair solutions for you!
Concrete Slabs vs Stamped Concrete
One of the biggest and main differences with concrete slabs vs. stamped concrete is that concrete slabs are made up of individual concrete units that are all created equally and aligned within a perimeter to create a concrete surface. Stamped concrete, however, is a fully paved unit of concrete that has been modified with a stencil atop the surface to create a beautiful design. Designs can be created using concrete slabs, but we recommend using stamped concrete on fully paved surfaces if the surfaces are larger, such as parking lots, driveways, and even some patios. Concrete slabs provide better use on smaller or more narrow surfaces, such as walkways, pathways, stairs, or standing areas.
